American hotel chain Best Western Hotels & Resorts has gone from the Crimea. About it reports Reuters.
The company left the Peninsula because of the sanctions from Washington, which prohibit American companies from doing business in Crimea and to conduct transactions through the Crimean banks. Up to Best Western Hotels & Resorts the Peninsula was left, is another large player in the hotel business Radisson.
The Agency notes that the hotel “Best Western Sevastopol” is still running, but the brand disappeared from the registration and reservation systems. “Now we simply called “Hotel Sevastopol”. But nothing has changed, the standards are the same, three stars. Just stopped paying for the franchise,” said a hotel employee.
On 16 July it was reported that the booking service Booking.com suspended its operations in Crimea due to the sanctions. It was explained that travelers can no longer book accommodation on the Peninsula, to put the assessment and leave feedback. The owner of one of the hotels in the Crimea have shared the official answer of service, which States that Booking.com obliged to comply with trade sanctions of the EU against the Crimea, as the organization is based in the Netherlands.
