Former President of the International football Federation (FIFA) Joseph Blatter in his book Ma Vérité (“My Truth”) wrote that Qatar dishonestly received the right to host the world Cup in 2022. Excerpt from the publication cites The Times.
According to him, members of the Committee choosing the host country of the tournament, ignored recommendations that the country will not be able to properly organize the tournament. The successful bid of Qatar is made possible due to a tacit illegal agreement and political pressure from Michel Platini, the former President of the Union of European football associations (UEFA), which was part of the Commission.
Blatter writes that none of the members had not read the reports on the applications of the candidate countries, because they already made their choice.
On 29 July the British Corporation BBC has announced that Qatar resorted to the help of PR firms and CIA agents to discredit the requests of other countries. For the right to host the tournament argued the United States, South Korea, Australia and Japan. In respect of the application of Qatar to host the world Cup have been allegations of corruption. FIFA conducted the investigation for two years, but eventually the charges were dropped.
82-year-old Blatter is the eighth President of FIFA. He led the organization from 1998 to 2015. The Swiss left the post in June 2015 amid a corruption scandal, then he was suspended from football for eight years for the unlawful transfer of two million Swiss francs headed at the time of UEFA Michel Platini. Later, the period of Ineligibility functionary was reduced to six years.
