The main reason for hindering trade and economic cooperation of Russia and China, is the poor transport links found at RIA Novosti during a conversation with Secretary General of Chinese Association for the development of enterprises abroad (CODA), senior economist Hae Jenewein.
CODA (China Overseas Development Association) is a national non-profit organization, mainly enabling Chinese enterprises to develop and invest in business abroad.
“In recent years, due to changes in the international arena, more and more Chinese companies are showing investment interest in Russia. However, in the past few years, trade and investment cooperation between Russia and China has experienced strong growth,” — said in an interview he Geneva. He also noted that despite the fact that in the first half of 2018 was observed a 20% rise (to be precise — 24.8 per cent) of bilateral trade, the two leaders still expect more.
The Secretary General of CODA sees the main reason for this difficult cooperation between Russia and China is poor transportation and communication infrastructure, especially in border areas. “The border between China and Russia on the river exceeds two thousand kilometers. At the moment there is no bridge that would have connected the two shores. Now being built two bridges, one in Shanghai and the second in Tongjiang, but the construction of these bridges has been ongoing for many years and still not completed. Now all hope that the facility will be completed in 2019,” — said he Geneva.
2016 is the construction of the bridge Blagoveshchensk-Heihe length of 19.9 kilometers. The project managers argue that the work is proceeding on schedule, and the introduction of object in operation is planned for the end of 2019. Also, countries engaged in dialogue about the launch of the first passenger cable car border crossing across the Amur river. The parties can not agree among themselves, to begin to implement the project.
