The investigative Committee of Belarus have detained three employees of the media. They are suspected of obtaining illegal access to information belonging to the state information Agency BelTA. This was reported on the website of the Department.
Marina Zolotova Tatiana Korovenkova and Anna Kaltygina was arrested on 7 August. This operation was carried out in the framework of the investigation of the criminal case initiated after the message “Belarusian Telegraph Agency” about failures in the system of a paid subscription.
Korovenkova is an employee of the Agency, BelaPAN, Kaltygina and Zolotov work for a large publication TUT.BY (though the latter is the chief editor of the information portal).
Belarusian media also reported on the searches, followed by the seizure of documents, held on June 7 and in the offices of Belpan and TUT.BY.
According to the official report, during the last two years there were over 15 thousand connections to computer systems of the Agency. Local law enforcement believe that the crime involved employees of three organizations associated with the field of media.
