The head of the Duma Committee on civil society development issues, public and religious organisations Sergey Gavrilov spoke about the categories of people who will be able to get Russian citizenship, in priority order, reports TASS.
“We might propose changes to the legislation in the act to indicate the categories for which that is preferential, in fact, the granting of citizenship will be a priority. I believe that it is primarily the citizens of Ukraine, Belarus and Transnistria”, — said the MP. This law will also apply to citizens of those countries where “armed conflict or a change of political regime”.
Its subordinate Committee is working on the solution of two main problems: the Institute of granting political refugee and simplified granting of citizenship for citizens of Ukraine, in particular, those who live in “conflict areas” of the South-East of the country, said Gavrilov. For such migrants will register in the law the simplified procedure, for example, the rejection of the exam on the Russian language for citizens of Ukraine and Belarus.
The MP said the desire to “consider these issues and take them one package in the fall” in preparation of the new concept of migration policy. According to him, these amendments will give a clear signal to the Russian-speaking citizens living in the near abroad that they are welcome in Russia and welcome their future contributions to the national economy.
August 7, Tuesday, the lower house of the Parliament received the draft law on granting the President powers to determine the categories of foreign citizens who can obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.
