The ships of the Northern fleet went on a trip to the East of the Arctic

The detachment of warships and support vessels of the Northern fleet left the main naval base in Severomorsk in the Barents sea and went to the Eastern Arctic, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the Northern fleet.

“The detachment of a large anti-submarine ship “Vice – Admiral Kulakov”, large landing ships “Alexander Otrakovsky”, “Kondopoga” sea trawler “Vladimir Gumanenko”, the icebreaker “Ilya Muromets”, the tanker “Sergey Osipov”, rescue tug “Pamir” and kolektorna the ship KIL-143″ — said in the army.

As noted in the Navy, the main aim of the campaign is to ensure the safety of navigation in the Arctic region. In the way sailors will practice search and rescue activities and assistance conditional to the courts, to victims of the disaster in the high latitudes: on Board the flagship, there are two Ka-27 helicopter and aircraft group engaged in flight operations.

The Arctic campaigns of the Northern fleet are on a regular basis, beginning in 2012. This year the campaign will take place for the seventh time. The route leads through the Northern sea route, most of which are now free of ice.
