Letter to the mother of the convict in Russia Ukrainian Director Oleg Sentsov, in which she asks for pardon of his son, came to the administration of the President. This was reported by the Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday, August 9, reports RIA Novosti.
“I know that this letter was received in the appropriate division of the presidential administration. I am not ready to tell you about any reaction”, — said Peskov.
He recalled that in the clemency process the legislation provides a specific set of actions.
July 13, it became known that Lyudmila Sentsov wrote a letter to the Russian President asking to pardon her son. On the same day, Peskov assured that the appeal will necessarily be reviewed.
In June, 12 workers of culture asked the President to pardon the Director. In the Kremlin, in turn, pointed out that the convict himself must initiate the decision of the question.
Sentsov was sentenced by a Russian court to 20 years in prison for organizing terrorist attacks in the Crimea. In mid-may he started a hunger strike.
