In Uganda, residents of the fishing villages on the Islands in lake Victoria are forced to leave their homes because of the onslaught of crocodiles. Reported by the Daily Monitor.
According to a resident of one of the villages they live in fear, because in search of food, the crocodiles began to wander into the house. She was attacked while working in the garden. A man from another village said that many houses are abandoned. “Their owners either moved or eaten by crocodiles,” he says.
Even more dangerous to approach the shore. Reptiles attack on fishermen, and women or children who go to the lake for water. The representative of local authorities said that killed many people, including seven schoolchildren. Many cases are not registered officially.
Residents of fishing villages are complaining that before the election the President promised to intervene to solve the problem, but have not done so. Crocodiles continue to multiply, the police is forbidden to kill them, and the wells are not built.
Lake Victoria located in Eastern Africa in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Its area is 68 thousand square kilometers — more than twice the area of lake Baikal.
In April it was reported that in the state of Odisha (Orissa) in the attack of a crocodile killed a 14-year-old student. The villagers blame the death of a boy of power, which, despite promises, has not erected the fence from crocodiles.
