The Ministry of economic development and trade (MEDT) of Ukraine refused to consider the possibility of termination of railway communication with Russia. This Ukrainian news Agency UNN reported in the Department.
“Economic development is not considering the termination of passenger service as a tool of economic impact as part of measures to counter “the transit of Russian aggression”,” — noted in the Ministry.
The Ministry stated that it cannot comment on the level of possible losses from the termination of passenger rail service, as it is not within the competence of a particular Department.
Earlier, on 6 August, the Minister of infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian took the initiative on the termination of railway communication with Russia. He later said that he had talked exclusively about the cancellation of passenger trains.
Ukraine is not the first time raised the question of the abolition of the railway communication with Russia. In December 2017 Omeljan already acted with the similar initiative.
