The birth rate in Russia by 2020 will grow primarily at the expense of residents of the North Caucasus regions and Siberia. This is stated in the joint forecast of the Ministry of labour and social protection and Rosstat, write “news”.

The highest demographic indicators are expected in the remote from the Federal center, regions where strong family traditions, and young families are actively supported by the state. The government expects that in a few years the birth rate there will reach two children per woman. The highest rates are expected from Tuva (3,4), Chechnya (2,92), the Altai Republic (2,9), Nenets Autonomous Okrug (2,52) and Buryatia (2,28).

The lowest fertility rate, according to the Agency, will be in the Central regions. In Leningrad region the rate of 1.37, in Moscow — of 1.52, in the Voronezh region — 1,54, in Tomsk — 1,56 in Smolensk — 1,56.

The national average number of births per woman now it is 1,62. The Ministry has estimated that by 2020 this figure will reach of 1.65, and by 2024-mu — 1,7.

According to Rosstat, in 2017, the birth rate in the country decreased by 10.9 percent from a year earlier. So, in 2016, was born 1,7 million children, showed a population growth of 5.4 thousand people. UN experts predict that Russia’s population decline to 132 million people by 2050.
