The wing of a passenger plane flying to Moscow from Bulgarian Burgas, damaged by lightning. About it reports “Evening Moscow” with reference to the representative of airport Vnukovo.
“On the eve before landing in Moscow the commander of Russian Boeing 737 suspected that the plane was hit by lightning,” — said the Agency interlocutor. On Board were Russian tourists, who were returning home after a holiday.
After landing, the plane checked the equipment: on the wing found traces characteristic of lightning. “Due to a lightning strike, charred structural elements of the wing and rivet,” — said at the airport. The aircraft will make flights once pass a thorough inspection.
In February 2018, lightning punched a huge hole in the tail of the American Intercontinental strategic missile-carrying bomber Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. After a damage assessment revealed that the vertical stabilizer of the B-52 can not be restored. It turned out that the discharge damaged the lightning protection and, in the end, the item had to be changed completely.
