Russia in past years has strengthened its presence in the sea of Azov, sending dozens of warships and boats. About this in an interview with “observer” said Lieutenant-General stock, the former Deputy chief of the General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko.
According to him, Russia has moved from the Caspian sea to the Azov missile boats, equipped with cruise missiles “Calibre”. “These missiles, they can cover almost the whole of Ukraine. For the range they have shown 1500 kilometres, and it is the Russian equivalent of the American “Tomahawk”, that is, it can be up to 2,500 kilometers, and cover the whole of Ukraine”, — he said.
Romanenko also said that Russia acquired new possibilities for the conduct of hostilities against Ukraine from the sea and land. “They built this “Russian world”, the new Russia, but their focus on the South and East of our area… Do they have the General staff have plans to the Dnieper,” — said the General.
Romanenko pointed out that the countries of the West have the capability to confront Russia. The General stressed that Kiev appealed to the United States and the European Union to impose sanctions against Russian ports in the Black sea.
“But while we have no relevant decisions from the Americans and the EU, regarding the fact that such sanctions will be developed in the near future and implemented. Working on it, but this time again return to the fact that Ukraine suffers significant losses”, — he concluded.
Russia has carriers of cruise missiles of air -, sea-and land-based. Some of them, especially rockets of family “Caliber” was repeatedly used during the Russian military operation in Syria. In may, President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian warships, equipped with missiles “Caliber”, will bear permanent duty in the Mediterranean sea.
