The Ukrainian authorities can contact the UN Security Council or NATO to provide naval escort for ships in the sea of Azov. This broadcast channel “112 Ukraine” said the Deputy Minister of the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons of Ukraine Georgy Tuka. Video is available on YouTube (20:27).
“It is theoretically possible to consider two versions. The first — an appeal to the UN Security Council with a request for naval convoy of the United Nations. The second version, which, from my point of view, less likely, — the use of NATO forces to escort in the sea of Azov,” said Tuck.
He stressed that he would not count on the help of NATO forces to Kiev.
The situation in the Azov region deteriorated after the opening of the Crimean bridge. Ukrainian officials said about strengthening his group in the sea of Azov. On 2 July the commander of the Ukrainian Navy reported that in the near future the fleet of the country can grow armored with “unexpected material.” Also, the Ukrainian border guards regularly detain Russian ships.
