The Minister of labour and social protection Maxim Topilin explained again why raising the retirement age in Russia is necessary. According to him, the decision was made to balance the budget of the Pension Fund of Russia (PFR), which while maintaining the current system simply will not cope with the number of pensioners. The Minister’s words leads to “Interfax”.
“If nothing is done now, leave the retirement age unchanged, then the costs of the Pension Fund of Russia for payments in the near time will increase significantly”, — explains the logic of the Minister. According to Topilin, the number of pensioners is growing every year, what the FIU does not cope — paid contributions to the Fund is not enough.
“In the budget of the FIU, there is a serious imbalance between the volume of received insurance premiums and the amount of pension payments. This difference will be absorbed by ever larger infusions of Federal funds, that is essentially from taxes paid by all of us,” he revealed the prospects of the current system Topilin. As a positive result of raising the retirement age Topilin said that the payout will grow on the average on one thousand roubles and on December 1, 2019 for non-working pensioners will be the national average of 15 414 rubles.
The Minister concluded that without raising the retirement age, the growth of pensions in Russia is impossible in principle. Similar explanation was previously made by the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, who argued that the reform necessary for the country. The start of the new pension reform, the head of government announced in mid-June. The vast majority of Russians do not support the reform, and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that it would be possible to wait.
