The General Prosecutor of Ukraine (GPU) has shown the results of a search in the chamber of the former soldiers of the battalion “Tornado”, who staged a riot in Kiev Lukyanovka jail. Photos issued a press-the Secretary of GPU Andriy Lysenko on his page in Facebook.
“During the search were found and seized computer equipment, prohibited items, including weapons, improvised explosive packs, batons and cold weapons,” wrote Col. 9 Aug ex-soldiers of the interior Ministry battalion “Tornado” staged a riot in Lukyanovka jail. The cause of the riot was the attempt by security forces to put them in different places of detention. Special forces stormed the block in which barricaded “tornadovtsa”, and took them from prison.
Volunteer battalion of the MIA of Ukraine was created in October 2014, on the basis of previously disbanded for looting of the battalion “Shakhtersk”. The unit participated in the fighting in the Donbass. In June 2015, the head of the interior Ministry Arsen Avakov disbanded battalion. In April 2017, eight former soldiers of the battalion was sentenced to prison for kidnappings, torture, looting and rape.
