Researchers at the University of Bath in the UK found that eating Breakfast before exercise promotes the burning of carbohydrates and helps to digest food after physical activity. About it reported in a press release on MedicalXpress.
The study involved 12 healthy men who were either taken in the morning food (oatmeal with milk) or remained hungry before the hour riding a stationary bike. The time interval between Breakfast and physical activity was two hours. In the control part of the experiment after Breakfast, the volunteers rested for three hours. At the end of the experiment, the subjects measured the levels of glucose in the blood and glycogen in the muscles.
It turned out that Breakfast increases the rate of burning carbohydrates, which are stored as glycogen in the muscles during exercise. There was also a fall of blood sugar levels. Also, meals prior to physical activity allows you to speed up the digestion of food consumed after training.
Scientists plan to continue research to see whether the morning meal long-term effect on metabolism.
