In Istanbul arrested Streamline freighter with 11 Russian sailors on Board. About the Agency RIA Novosti said the representative of the Azov-don territorial organization of the Russian trade Union of seamen Alexander Rubtsov.
He noted that the vessel was arrested for debt two months ago. It went from Rostov-on-don to Istanbul for repair, after which the crew had to return to Russia.
“The ship Streamline (…) was arrested for the debts of the previous owner. Debt of about half a million dollars (…). The owner of the ship not communicate”, — he explained.
According to Rubtsov, the owner actually left the team, and the Union appealed to the Russian Consulate General. “The response from the Consulate received. The situation was put under control. The sailors on the ship get food”, — said the representative of the Union.
He said that the problem can be solved only by the sale of the ship in respect of debts or for scrap or will be the owner and resolve the situation.
According to the trade Union, the seafarers have not been paid since June 3, the debt to them is more than 36 thousand dollars.
