President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the bill, which exempts the enterprises of the military-industrial complex (MIC), members of the state concern “Ukroboronprom”, from paying debts to companies from Russia. It is reported TASS with reference to the press service of the President of Ukraine.
The document prohibits enforce the decisions of foreign courts for the recovery of debt obligations, where the creditor is the Russian organization or their subsidiaries, as debtor — enterprises of the Ukrainian MIC, included in the list of strategic objects.
By estimations of authors of the bill, the amount owed under the terminated agreements in the sphere of military-technical cooperation (MTC) with Russia, including penalties and interest, is approximately 3.8 billion hryvnia, or $ 145 million (about 9.7 billion).
According to the Agency, part of the concern “Ukroboronprom” includes more than 130 companies. In 2014, Ukraine has stopped the export to Russia of military goods and dual appointments. In 2015 the Ukrainian government has severed in force since 1993 agreement with Russia in the sphere of military-technical cooperation. In 2017, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has terminated the intergovernmental agreement with Russia from 2003 on cooperation in military exports to third countries and procedure of mutual deliveries of weapons and military equipment, components and services for military purposes.
