The share of the shadow economy in Ukraine amounts to 33 percent of GDP, according to a statement on the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of economic development.
“According to estimates of the Ministry, in the first quarter of 2018, the level of the shadow economy made up 33 percent of official GDP, four percentage points less in comparison with the same period of 2017”, — stated in the message Department.
The greatest reduction observed in the processing industry — 29 percent versus 38 a year earlier. Followed by extractive industry (seven percent) and manufacturing (five percent).
In the financial and insurance sector, the share of illegal business, on the contrary, increased by five percent. In the transport, postal and courier sectors — four percent.
By the end of 2017, the Ministry also recorded a decline in the share of the shadow economy, from 37% to 32%. But then in the first quarter it grew by one percentage point.
