High-speed railway (HSR) Ekaterinburg-Chelyabinsk will bring additional GDP of 2.2 trillion rubles. Such calculations of the center of Economics of infrastructure (CER) results belonging to the family Demyan Kudryavtsev, the newspaper “Vedomosti”.
It is projected that the highway will ensure the growth of GDP since the beginning of construction and will attract additional money lifetime within the concession (2021 to 2034). According to calculations, the gross regional product (GRP) in Chelyabinsk region will grow by 0.9 trillion roubles, gross regional product of the Sverdlovsk region by 1.12 trillion rubles, and the gross domestic product of other regions due to investment demand will grow by 0.1 trillion roubles.
The greatest effect is expected at the construction stage of high-speed railway, as will the growth of production of construction materials and development services. As a result, increase tax revenues and social security contributions.
According to the Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk region Alexander Wysokinski, once the highway will connect Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg, the country will become the third largest center of economic growth (after Moscow and St. Petersburg). Vysokinskiy considers calculations of tsei accurate, but conservative, and hoped that the effect on the regional economy will surpass these projections.
According to the plan of economic development for the construction of HSR Moscow-Vladimir and Yekaterinburg-Chelyabinsk from the budget will allocate 350 billion rubles. The total cost of the project is 1.5 trillion rubles.
