German Chancellor Angela Merkel during his visit to Georgia visited the village of Odzisi on the border with South Ossetia. She looked at the binoculars located near the village of Russian military base, according to Bild.
Before that, during a meeting with students of Tbilisi state University, the Chancellor noted that Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territory and an integral part of Georgia.
Merkel arrived in Georgia to discuss bilateral relations. During the visit she met with the Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze. At the dinner, German Chancellor sang a verse of your favorite song Wir lieben die Stürme (“We love the storms”).
In 2008, the year Georgia sent troops into South Ossetia, trying to take the region under its control. After the intervention of Russia, the Georgian military were forced out of the conflict zone. Later, Moscow officially recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
