Russia will have their own equivalent of gas turbines from the German company Siemens. Their development will deal with the company “Power machines” owned by Alexey Mordashov and came under American sanctions, said in an interview with RBC Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.
According to Kozak, the government is developing a roadmap for import substitution production of gas turbines. This work is in its final stage and the authorities considered it as a solution to the “dual challenge” in the form of technological security of Russia and support of the company, under sanctions.
The project was initiated by themselves “Power machines” and its main shareholder, Alexey Mordashov. In April he asked the state half of the estimated budget of 7.5 billion rubles. “We have to calculate. Of course, the government’s objective is to minimize costs from the Federal budget, even on such important things,” added Kozak.
Meets all international standards, the turbine must be produced in Russia in three to four years, concluded Deputy Prime Minister.
Until now, the manufacture of turbines in Russia has been the company “Siemens gas turbine technology” is a joint venture of “Power machines” and Siemens. The Russian side it owned 35 percent. However, in the summer of 2017, it became known that the two turbos produced for the power plant in the Krasnodar region, was in the Crimea to bypass sanctions. Siemens demanded the return of the turbines and pay compensation, but lost the case. In August 2018, the German company appealed the decision to the Supreme court of Russia.
