One of the tasks of the Board of Directors of the Center Khrunichev is the completion of flight tests of missiles “Angara” from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, said “Kommersant” the Chairman of the Board Nikolay Sevastyanov. Earlier, defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that flight tests of space rocket complex “Angara” at the cosmodrome Plesetsk has been completed.
According to Sevastyanov, the Board of Directors of the Khrunichev Centre is “to promote the stabilization of the financial condition of the company, ensuring the reliability of rockets “proton”, the completion of flight tests of missiles “Angara” from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, the series production of a closed cycle in Omsk”.
Shoigu, speaking on August 7 conference call, announced the completion of flight tests of the complex “Angara” at Plesetsk. “In 2014, at the Plesetsk cosmodrome we have successfully completed flight tests of space rocket complex and the first launches of carrier rockets “Angara” light and heavy classes,” — said the Minister of defence.
The official decision to start work on a family of “Angara” made the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin on 6 January 1995. To date, the rocket made only two flights (in light and heavy versions in 2014). According to the original plan, the first launch of “Angara” was supposed to happen in 2005. Only by 2014 and the creation of “Angara” is the Khrunichev Centre took about three billion dollars.
