Escaped from Russia, the former head of “Transaero” was accused of embezzlement of a billion

The former General Director “Transaero” Alexander Burdin in absentia accused of embezzling 1.3 billion rubles. On Tuesday, August 28, the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) reported by TASS in connection with the arrest in absentia Burdina petty-Bourgeois court of Moscow.

“In the framework of a criminal investigation it is established that in the period from 4 March to October, 2016 the non-payment of statutory payments 6804 employees of the airline was not less than 400 million rubles”, — told the Agency.

In addition, according to the TFR, Burdin from October 2015 to September 2017, abusing their powers, made a number of financial and economic transactions and stole property by embezzlement, causing “Transaero” damage amounting to more than 1.3 billion rubles.

“With the purpose to avoid criminal responsibility Burdin disappeared from law enforcement bodies, in connection with what was declared internationally wanted”, — noted in Department.

Burdin November 2015 led by “Transaero” (before that he was Deputy Director of Finance), and then from September until the end of October 2017 headed “VIM-Avia”. Transaero airlines ceased operations in the fall of 2015 because of the debt of 250 billion rubles. Then, the airline has revoked the air operator certificate, and in September 2017 she was declared bankrupt.

As head of “VIM-Avia” Burdin was replaced by Alexander Kochnev. According to TASS, 28 Aug Kochnev was finally brought accusation under three articles of the criminal code (“Abuse of authority, which entailed grave consequences”; “Illegal receipt of credit” and “Transfer of foreign currency to non-residents using falsified documents”). Currently Kochnev is under house arrest.
