Russia has already started to interfere in the elections in Ukraine through social networks. This was announced by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on his official website.

The head of state said that leading IT companies recorded the creation of tens of thousands of fake accounts with Russian roots. The goal, according to the President, is to sow discouragement and uncertainty about the European choice. He noted that Russia has already got the hand on the intervention in the elections of other countries, for example, during the Dutch referendum and Brexit.

“The tentacles of Moscow are very hard to penetrate the social networks, keep private media in cyberspace. The Kremlin is skillfully covers his Subversion of democratic values and principles. Now we need to find ways to cooperate with other States and to coordinate efforts to develop a reliable mechanism for preventing interference in the electoral process and ensuring free will of our citizens,” — said the Ukrainian leader.

Poroshenko stressed that international assistance in creating a similar legislative framework will not be superfluous. Important decisions in the new political season will concern the fight against corruption, economic reforms, cooperation with the IMF, progress in the peace process in the Donbas and de-occupation of Crimea, the politician said.
