The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko told about the course of the country in NATO and the EU as a signal to Russia. The text of his speech posted on the official website of the President.
“Fixing in the Constitution the obligation of course to join NATO and the EU, we send the message to Moscow: we’re breaking up, once and for all. Russia as the aggressor country has not and will not have a veto on our accession to either NATO or the European Union. And no one will have such a right,” said he to the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada..
Poroshenko expressed confidence that the final amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the course will be taken in February.
Earlier, Poroshenko informed to amend the basic law, which “will fix the choice of Ukraine and its place as a member of the European family”, as well as Ukraine’s course on integration into NATO.
Constant “final farewell” Poroshenko with Russia became the object of jokes both sides of the Russian-Ukrainian border. Last time he said goodbye to Moscow on September 14. Then he said that Kyiv received the confirmation prospects of NATO membership at the Alliance’s summit in Brussels. “Good-bye, our tender bear, go back to your fairy woods!”, — recited then the Ukrainian leader.
