The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko responded to the trip of the Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the Crimea. He said that the authorities of the neighboring States violate international law. He told about it during a press conference with Slovak counterpart Andrej Kiska, reported on Friday, November 23, on the website of the press service of the head of state.
“I want to emphasize, and let us hear from these visits the Russian Crimea will not. The Crimea is Ukraine. Was and always will be”, — said Poroshenko.
He added that he instructed the foreign Ministry to respond to the actions of the Russian President. According to the head of state, Putin’s visit to the Peninsula “shows a complete disregard for international law.”
“We urge Russia to return to the civilized world”, — concluded the Ukrainian leader expressed confidence that Moscow will apply appropriate sanctions.
Friday, 23 November, President Putin held in Yalta, an extended meeting of the Presidium of the state Council of Russia on the implementation of the may decree. Kiev protested in this regard, reports RIA Novosti.
Crimea became part of Russia following a referendum in March 2014. The Ukrainian government and most of the world did not recognize the results of the vote, Moscow stressed that the plebiscite was held with observance of all international norms.
