Part of Seoul was left without Internet, fixed telephone and mobile communication because of a fire in the control room of the second largest operator of South Korea’s KT. This was reported on the website of the TV channel YTN.
According to authorities, the fire started in the basement of the building where the telecommunications equipment, and tested fiber optic communication cables. It is assumed that this happened because of the shutdown cooling system equipment, unsafe placement of battery packs, uninterruptible power supply, and the lack or failure of gas fire extinguishing system. The fire was extinguished by more than ten hours.
As a result, in the five Central municipalities of Seoul and Goyang, does not work Internet, mobile and telephone. In many places only accepts payments by cash.
According to company representatives, full recovery will require at least a week. The cause of the fire and extent of damage are established.
