Russian base on the moon is scheduled to deploy between 2036 and 2040. This is stated in the draft decision of the joint meeting of Roscosmos and Russian Academy of Sciences Council on space, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the document, in the same period, the polygons will deliver big loads, and it will also conduct scientific experiments. However, from what base will consist of is not specified.
That Russia plans to create on the lunar surface visited a long-term base, the head of “Roskosmos” Dmitry Rogozin said in November. According to him, the main tasks will be to solve robotic system.
In September Rogozin said that Russia will not participate in the international project of the lunar Gateway station on the sidelines. He added that a lunar station could be created in conjunction with the BRICS countries.
In April 2014, Rogozin, occupying the post of Deputy Prime Minister, called the colonization of the moon a strategic challenge.
