The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with his wife Marina visited the Church of the Saviour at Berestove. It is reported Strenia.

According to the publication, the Ukrainian leader has promised this Church the Patriarchate of Constantinople in exchange for Tomos.

Cathedral of the XI century is a complex of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. In 1157 there was buried Prince Yuri Dolgoruky, who is considered the founder of Moscow.

Currently, the temple is not used for service. For 18 years, there are restoration works.

In early January, the Ecumenical (Constantinople) Patriarch Bartholomew signed a Tomos (decree) of the autocephaly of the formed 15 Dec ptsu. 9 Jan their signatures to the Tomos put all the members of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
