Guide Facebook prepares to integrate WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. It is reported by The New York Times, citing sources in the project.
The publication notes that full integration is planned to produce up to 2020. Work on the unification of messaging between applications is at an early stage. As a priority the introduction of end-to-end encryption for better security of users: the developers, the users of Facebook Messenger can send message to WhatsApp user via the secure communication channel. Currently, forwarding the encrypted messages are only available within the same service.
This strategy runs counter to previous statements by the head of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg: the purchase of WhatsApp and Instagram, he insisted that the services will be to develop independently. According to the New York Times, now the founder of Facebook believes that a General system of work apps would make them more useful.
Reporters also noted that the merger may have a positive effect on the advertising revenues of the companies.
Employees of WhatsApp took the decision Zuckerberg hostile. It is also unclear how to ensure user privacy: for now register in WhatsApp requires only a phone number, while Instagram and Facebook Messenger require you to use real personal data.
