The issue of possible financial or military support to Venezuela was not discussed during the telephone conversation the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the elected President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, said the official representative of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov. It is quoted by TASS on Friday, January 25.
The conversation between the two leaders took place the day before. Putin expressed support for Maduro in conditions of aggravated internal political situation. According to the Russian leader, the solution should be sought through peaceful dialogue, and any external intervention violate international law. Maduro thanked his counterpart for the principled stance in this situation.
On the same day, the Kremlin condemned the attempted usurpation of the Supreme power in Venezuela. The Russian foreign Ministry made a similar statement.
Earlier, Maduro said that Venezuela closes Embassy and consulates in the United States, passed RIA Novosti. The President also announced the severance of diplomatic ties with Washington. American diplomats must leave the country before January 27.
23 January amid mass protests, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition Juan Guido proclaimed himself provisional President and called on Maduro to resign. Guido, supported by the US, Argentina, Canada, Peru, Colombia. Maduro considers that the coup d’etat are American policies.
