Wholesale and retail prices for meat chickens in January 2019 rose more than 20%, follows from materials of the Ministry of agriculture published on the Agency’s website.
According to the Ministry, the average wholesale price of chicken in January amounted to 117.2 thousand rubles per ton, 21.8 percent more than a year ago.
In the opt on 14 Jan fixed price 152,7 rubles per kilogram. This is 22.4% more expensive than in 2018.
In comments to RBC in the Ministry of agriculture said that the main reason for the price increase — last year’s outbreak of avian influenza, which has suffered from several domestic manufacturers. Poultry farms have already started to recover, which led to a price adjustment since the beginning of the year, they decreased by 0.2 percent.
The interviewed market participants identified several reasons: reduction of volumes of import, rising prices for food and fuel. Also the role played by the “low base effect” in the form of prices that are too low in the beginning of 2018.
According to the Ministry of agriculture, increased prices for beef and pork, but their growth was moderate: beef has risen in price in retail, 3.4 percent by January 2018, pork — by 8 percent.
Earlier, on January 19, the head of the Ministry Dmitry Patrushev spoke about the growth of prices for separate goods, recorded in the commercial networks in the early years. Among them were poultry meat, sugar, eggs, and fruits and vegetables.
