State Duma Deputy Sergei Ivanov (liberal democratic party) suggested to his colleagues a way to avoid unflattering assessments by citizens — for this they should die. Such a statement the MP made during the discussion of the bill on the inadmissibility of insulting the state symbols, writes “Kommersant”.
“If you want to about you did not write anything or say only the good die. Otherwise, while we are alive and doing something, Russian citizens have the right to criticize us and to disrespect in any form,” he said.
On 24 January, the bill according to which the disrespect for the state symbols and state agencies on the Internet can be equated to disorderly conduct, adopted in the first reading. It was submitted to the state Duma, the Federation Council members Andrei Klishas and Lyudmila Bokova, and the Deputy Dmitry Vyatkin. In their opinion, the liability should arise for the spread of the Internet materials that are “indecently expressing clear disrespect” to the state symbols, government, society and the state. The penalty for this can be a fine or arrest for 15 days.
In September 2018 Ivanov in the state Duma introduced the “Dueling code” and the draft law on the introduction of it into action. The occasion was the video message of the head of Regardie Viktor Zolotov to the opposition leader Alexei Navalny. A bill to duels criticized and called a “humiliation of people”.
