The US state Department has appointed a chief for Venezuela

The U.S. state Department created the position of special representative for Venezuela. As reported by Secretary of state Mike Pompeo, appointed Elliott Abrams, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the head of American diplomacy, the task of Abrams will “help the Venezuelan people to the full restoration of democracy and prosperity in their country.”

In addition, Pompeo gave Washington’s position, considering that proclaimed himself provisional President of Venezuela Juan Guido “invited us officials to stay.” According to the Minister, the United States will do everything necessary to protect its diplomats in Caracas.

On 25 January, the US government has urged American citizens residing in Venezuela, to think seriously about how to leave the country. It also became known that the United States has withdrawn from the Venezuelan part of the diplomats, except those engaged in particularly important cases.

Earlier, the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro announced the decision to close the Embassy and all the consulates of the country in the United States. Before that, he accused Washington in the coup attempt, broke off all diplomatic relations with the us government and gave the country 72 hours to leave the Bolivarian Republic. The United States refused to break off relations and declared they would not recognize Maduro regime as legitimate.
