The company “Gazprom” could write off the debts of the poor, says Minister for national policy of the Chechen Republic Dzhambulat Umarov. He declared it on air of TV channel “Tsargrad”, commenting on the scandal with the local Department of “Gazprom”.
“What is terrible is that Gazprom, as a billionaire, as a giant, state oligarch, let’s say that it would be wrong if he from time to time to the poor, affected groups of people will write off any debts?” — said Umarov.
24 Jan subsidiary of the state company “Gazprom” — “Gazprom Mezhregiongaz terrible” — said that working with each debtor in Chechnya individually, the company does not intend to forgive the debts.
Earlier in the same month, Umarov explained that the right of Chechnya for debt relief give two military campaigns, during which the region allegedly accumulated debt for gas. In this case, “Gazprom” demands money for delivery in the period from 2007 to 2015.
The scandal with debts of Chechnya for gas arose after the district court of Grozny has ruled to cancel more than 9 billion rubles of debts of inhabitants of the Republic, recognizing the debts as bad. Moreover, it was required to make the Prosecutor’s office of the Republic, which feared protests in the region, which was the reason for filing a lawsuit. “Gazprom” has refused to recognize the court’s decision and filed an appeal. The total debt of the Chechen Republic for the supply of gas estimated by the company in 13,291 billion.
