The transit of Russian gas to bypass Ukraine worries Europe only in words, whereas in reality the EU countries are interested in using a new pipeline that runs past the Ukrainian territories. This was stated by Verkhovna Rada Deputy Yevhen murayev, the TV channel “Our”, the video published on the YouTube channel policy.
“The so-called concern for Merkel, the Macron over the transit via Ukraine is only the statements that are divided about the interests of Europe from the point of view of ensuring its gas,” said Moore.
The Deputy reminded that since Yulia Tymoshenko had two gas wars, in which Europe risked to remain without fuel. Because of this, the EU sees Ukraine as an unreliable supplier and wants to use workarounds supplies to get gas.
Moore stressed that the loss of gas transit for Ukraine is a serious threat because it can disrupt the gas supply in the country. The politician said that for this matter it is necessary to put aside political differences and look at it exclusively from economic point of view.
Russia is building two pipelines bypassing Ukraine — “Nord stream-2” and “Turkish stream”. The first will connect Russia and Germany under the Baltic sea, the second will run under the Black sea to Turkey and on to southern and South-Eastern Europe. Germany wants to conclude a Treaty with Russia for the supply of gas that keeps Ukraine’s status as a transit country, but Kiev fears that the new supply route will deprive the country of transit revenues.
