Scientists of the School of public health Bloomberg Johns Hopkins conducted a study and found out how polluted the air on cruise ships. About it reports Fox News.

Professor Ryan Kennedy secretly measured the degree of contamination of the wind over four cruise ships sailed from the West coast of the United States. He found that indexes of air pollution on these ships approximately equal to the same indices in the most polluted areas of the world.

“Despite the fact that passengers are in the open ocean in the fresh air, they are exposed to elevated concentrations of ultrafine particles”, the study says.

“I have no doubt that the reason of polluted air, such as diesel fuel,” explained Professor Kennedy.

The representatives of cruise companies, said that the results of studies Kennedy “absolutely absurd and have nothing to do with reality”.

In January at one of the largest cruise ships, carrying about nine thousand passengers, broke out intestinal infection. 167 passengers that traveled to the Caribbean on the ship Oasis of the Seas, picked up a virus, which was accompanied by diarrhea and nausea. In the end, all the tourists were forbidden to leave the ship.
