In Crimea, a local resident was arrested for desecration of a monument to the “Polite people”. On Monday, January 28, reported on the website of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Republic.
According to the report, the incident occurred on Sunday evening, January 27: a drunk man poured paint over a monument in Simferopol. Thereafter, he was detained and arrested on suspicion of committing a crime, against him a criminal case on vandalism.
According to RIA Novosti, the utility has returned the monument to its original appearance, ridding it of paint.
Bronze monument to the “Polite people” was opened in the Crimea in June 2016. The composition consists of a warrior in full gear, girls with flowers and rubbing at the feet of the cat. The author of the sculpture — academician of the Russian Academy of arts, people’s artist of Russia Salavat Shcherbakov.
The term “polite people” or “little green men”, widespread in connection with the release of the Crimea from Ukraine and its joining Russia. So the Internet came to be called Russian special forces involved in the operation, which took place on the Peninsula in February-March 2014.
