Mass death of tourists in the Maldives have forced the authorities to take action

The government of Maldives is concerned due to the frequent deaths of tourists on the Islands. It is reported by the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR).

Due to the fact that in January of 2019 in the Maldives drowned a few foreigners, Minister of tourism Ali Waheed has promised to carry out mass checks in guest houses and called on the authorities of the resorts carefully monitor the tourists who swim in the ocean.

Also Ali Wahid acknowledged that the safety of travelers in the Maldives leaves much to be desired, and added that all the Islands will be posted by the tourist police. In addition, the Minister of tourism has promised to separate safe swimming areas in 26 atolls.

It is noted that for the year 2017 in the Maldives drowned 31. Also, since the beginning of 2019 at the resorts in the Islands there were two fires, one of which erupted at the luxurious Gili Lankanfushi, where the burned seven villas and a restaurant. As a result, private resort on the North malé Atoll was closed for an indefinite period.

In June, the government of India has forbidden to take pictures at popular tourist spots in the resort of Goa in connection with the frequent death of tourists for a selfie. In some cases tourists have died when they suddenly were hit by a wave on the edge of a cliff, and sometimes they fell in the water trying to take pictures of themselves.
