In all districts of the Republic of Mordovia by 2020 it is planned to introduce system of separate gathering of garbage. This was stated by the CEO of the regional operator for collection of municipal solid waste (MSW) Svetlana Bagasse, reports TASS Monday, January 28.
“Now in three settlements in kovylkinskogo, krasnoslobodska and Lyambir district is test the containers for separate waste collection. Until the end of 2019 we will try [to install them] in half of the districts of Mordovia, in the towns”, she said.
According to her, now separate collection of waste is widely practiced in the regional centre, where its phased introduction began in 2012. To date, almost all playgrounds near apartment buildings equipped with special containers for sorting waste. There are about 850.
Sorted waste is received on the line pressing, and then — in large processing plants. A large part of waste paper sent to a paper factory in Penza, waste polymers, bottle — large factories in the Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions, said the CEO.
Since the operator on the treatment of MSW in cities and towns of Mordovia was established more than seven thousand containers for separate waste collection. According to Bagasse, it is possible to reduce the number of dumps in areas of the country by about 80 percent.
In the fall of 2017, the President’s special envoy on environmental issues Sergey Ivanov said that the implementation of separate waste collection in Russia will take decades. According to the official, at present, the country processed only seven percent of the waste, the other waste is buried.
