Russian chess player Vladimir Kramnik has declared end of career. On Tuesday, January 29, reported on the website of the super tournament in the Dutch Wijk aan Zee.
43-year-old Kramnik took part in the competition, then announced his decision to leave chess. According to him, he decided on the future two months ago.
“Perhaps I will take part in tournaments in rapid and blitz. In addition, I will continue to appear at events related to chess, to promote this wonderful game,” said the grandmaster.
Kramnik — fourteenth world chess champion. In 2000 in the match for the world chess crown he beat Garry Kasparov. In the national team of Russia three times he became champion of the world chess Olympiad.
