The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko boasted energy successes of the country in recent years. His words are quoted by “UKRINFORM”.

“In the past 2018, we need to import only 10.5 billion cubic meters, i.e. four times less. And that was import from Europe and we in Russia don’t buy gas for the fourth year,” boasted the President.

The head of state recalled that 10 years ago the current opponent Petro Poroshenko at the presidential elections, then Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has condemned Ukraine on unprofitable purchases of gas from Russian “Gazprom”. The President noted that many people simply did not believe that to abandon the terms of that agreement will be possible.

“Just think: ten years ago the then Prime Minister ordered Ukraine to buy from “Gazprom” annually to 52 billion cubic meters of gas, 41 billion cubic meters of gas on a “Take or pay”! Gonna take, not gonna take them and pay for from the budget money of the Russian Federation”, — said Poroshenko.

However, not all politicians share the opinion of the Ukrainian President. Opponents of Poroshenko noted that the gas dispute with Russia will bring Ukraine only billions in losses, as Moscow gradually refuses the Ukrainian transit.
