Hope, Tolokonnikova: Paniotov / RIA Novosti
Artist-accionista, the participant of group Pussy Riot Nadezhda Tolokonnikova admitted that a part of the art group “War” stole the painting from the Tretyakov gallery on the Crimean Shaft. She told about it on air of transfer “For three” channel RTVI, posted on YouTube.
About the incident she told, commenting on the theft of the Tretyakov gallery paintings of Arkhip Kuindzhi “AI-Petri. Crimea” that took place on January 27.
“We have nurtured these leftist ideas and lived entirely by stealing from supermarkets — it was the first eight years of my artistic career, which occurred in the group “War” and Pussy Riot early — we were thinking to do something like this, we were looking at some paintings — not in the Tretyakov gallery, the Tretyakov gallery on Krymsky Val,” — said Tolokonnikova.
“To be honest, something was stolen, but it was smaller, so this scandal is not caused, added accionista. With us no one contacted for this reason. She is now still hanging on the wall with us. Not just tell me where.”
She explained that no one noticed the loss, since the work was not as meaningful as “AI-Petri. Crimea”, and also because of the change of curators: “There was just always changing supervisors. At that moment, in my opinion, was still Andrei Erofeev, curator of the contemporary art Department at the Tretyakov gallery on the Crimean shaft, and then changed — and who now apparently knows nothing about art, so, too, does not notice.”
“AI-Petri. Crimea” has stolen from the Tretyakov gallery on January 27. Unknown in the eyes of the visitors took the artwork off the wall and fled the scene. Later, he was arrested, the painting was seized. It was discovered damaged.
