In the State Duma decided to form a working group to discuss legislative initiatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, which, in particular, study the prospects of removing abortion from the system of compulsory medical insurance (OMS), reports TASS.
A working group will be headed by Deputy Chairman of the state Duma Pyotr Tolstoy. The deputies will also discuss the laws on advertising of alcoholic beverages and the protection of personal data of Russians.
January 24, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill has criticized women who have had an abortion for medical reasons. In his words, “the destruction of the embryo or fetus is the destruction of the human person”, and “this practice of destroying people with disabilities promoted only in Nazi Germany”. He also urged the state Duma to bring the operation of the system.
Earlier, the Governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev has instructed the heads of municipalities to meet personally with women who choose to have an abortion with a physician, representatives of public organizations and psychologist to persuade them to continue the pregnancy. Otherwise, if a woman refused abortion, “responsible parties will be dismissed,” said the head of the region, as, according to him, it would mean that “the authorities with her just weren’t working.”
In 2012, doctors got the right to refuse to perform abortion for religious reasons according to paragraph 3 of article 70, “doctor” of the law “About bases of health protection of citizens in Russia”.
At the end of July 2018, the Ministry of health of Primorsky Krai, Yakutia and the Ryazan region introduced a temporary moratorium on abortion in the framework of the action “give me life!”. The health Ministry of Russia explained that he had sent to the regions letter of information with a request to support holding a four-day promotion, because it is “educational in nature”.
In April 2018 it became known that the inhabitant of Stary Oskol (Belgorod oblast) have sent a “permission” for an abortion to the clergy: without his signature in a bypass sheet she refused to terminate the pregnancy.
