The Ministry of transport of Russia increased the total cost of the Federal project “Rail transit” as part of a major plan of modernization of the main infrastructure at 220 billion rubles, writes RBC with reference to sources. Now its implementation will cost 1.47 trillion roubles.
Additional funds will come from extra-budgetary sources as well as from state off-budget funds (national welfare Fund, Russian direct investment Fund, the Reserve Fund of the government). At the same time reduced government funding of 14.6 billion rubles.
The press service of the Ministry of Finance announced that the reason for the budgetary cuts is in agreement with the indicators of the Federal budget for the 2019-2021 years. In the original draft it was stated that it will be funded including funds from the investment programme of Russian Railways.
The project involves increasing the capacity of the Baikal-Amur mainline and TRANS-Siberian railway (673 billion rubles), the development of transportation of containers by rail from the Far East to the Western border of Russia (202 billion) and ensuring the capacity of railway approaches to port Taman (12 billion).
“Rail and transit” is part of a comprehensive plan for the modernization and expansion of backbone infrastructure, the total cost of which is estimated at 6.3 trillion rubles. It is planned the construction of about 700 objects in six years, including the highway Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod — Kazan and toll roads, “Meridian”, and the development of regional airports.
