The Russian government is considering a proposal by which the removal of separately collected recyclables will be free for citizens. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister for agriculture, natural resources and environment Alexey Gordeev, reports “gazety”.
He noted that municipal solid wastes are the material resources that can act in the economy of the country. According to Gordeyev, it is necessary to approach European standards, where up to 80 percent of garbage goes for recycling and further use.
The transition to the new system for the treatment of MSW (municipal solid waste) in Russia began on 1 January. The aim of these measures is the reduction of environmental impact and maximum return waste in the Tuesday’s turnover.
On 14 January the Minister of natural resources and ecology Dmitry Kobylkin said that Russia could start selling junk Sweden. According to him, it is planned to send waste to be processed at construction site “Sees” in the Arkhangelsk region.
Russia annually produces more than 70 million tons of solid municipal waste, of which recycled only seven percent. The national project “Ecology” suggests that by 2024, the country should process at least 60 percent of the waste.
