Frunzensky district court of St. Petersburg ordered the head of the local headquarters of Alexei Navalny Denis Mikhailov and coordinator of the movement “Spring” Bogdan Lytvyn to pay 7.3 million rubles in compensation for the flowers destroyed by protesters on may 5, 2018, reports “the Media”.

Activists should pay 60 thousand rubles for legal costs.

According to the estimates of Prosecutor’s office which acted as the applicant on the court, the protesters caused damage and trampled plants totaling almost 11 million rubles. This amount exceeded the purchase cost of flowers in 19 times, however, according to the Prosecutor, authorities bought the seeds and grown plants are more expensive. For example, 1850 units of cotoneaster, which is used for hedges, were bought by the city for 175.5 million rubles. Over 150 damaged plants, the Prosecutor demanded 525 thousand, that is, each victim of the cotoneaster was estimated at 3.5 thousand rubles.

The Prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit against Lytvyn and Mikhailov in December — as the organizers held on may 5 reconstruction of “He’s not the king”, their Bank accounts were blocked. 1 February in mass media there was information that Navalny was going to pay for the damage out of pocket. Representatives of the opposition called it a fake.
