The destruction of the products, in some cases, makes economic sense, said the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, quoted by “Interfax”.
“Sometimes from the point of view of the economy better something to put under the knife than just give it away. Strange as it sounds. Because it’s saving jobs, maintaining certain levels of profitability, pricing policies and so forth,” — said Putin.
According to him, such an approach may sound “not very comfortable and comely”, but it stimulates economic growth, from which everyone wins. As an example the President cited the humanitarian aid from abroad, which “ruins” the domestic producers, depriving them of demand.
In 2014 in Russia there is a food embargo — a ban on the import of foodstuffs from countries that introduced anti-Russian sanctions.
2015 contraband products, illegally imported from these countries are destroyed.
