Russian textbook on Economics banned for lack of patriotism

Russian textbook “Economics” for 10-11 classes were excluded from the Federal list of textbooks due to the lack of materials, “forming students’ sense of pride, of belonging to what is happening”. About it reports “Kommersant” with reference to the author of the Handbook, doctor of economic Sciences Igor Lipshitsa.

According to him, the necessity of making appropriate edits to return the textbook in its list advised the publishing house “Vita-Press”. As follows from the recommendations, the author should tell in the manual “about the plans for the nearest economic breakthrough” about import substitution “as one of directions of modern economic policy,” because the discussion questions suggested in the tutorial “does not promote love of country”.

As explained to the newspaper the head of the publishing house Lyudmila Antonova, the recommendations were sent from reviews of experts, which was commissioned by the Ministry of education.

Previously, the textbook received positive conclusion of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian authors ‘ society (RAO) and the public examination, said Lipsits. He added that he did not intend to make changes “joyful words about the rise of the economy.”

In 2018, the Ministry of education rejected a third school textbooks, to claim the inclusion in the Federal list. The decision was based on the results of the supplementary examination conducted in the Russian Academy of education (RAO).
